October 26, 2012: Currently the U.S. snow coverage as of today is at 20.3%. Let’s do a snow dance and hope that this continues to make up for our no snow season of last year which was the 4th warmest winter in the U.S.
When you want to get the latest snow conditions go to the National Weather Service’s daily National Snow Analysis .
Find the snow stats and conditions of your favorite ski / snowboard area at snowstats.com or check out the webcam at Arapahoe Basin which is updated every 5 minutes. The current base at Arapahoe is now 18 inches and has 2 runs open.
No Snow
January 31, 2012: As you can see there is no snow in northern Illinois in January 2012 affecting sales at the shop. Fewer skis and snowboards are coming for tunes so we had to give our back room helper Joey a project to keep him busy. Having a person holding a sign gets noticed more than a sign in the parkway and it gets through a loop hole where the village requires a permit for signs posted in the ground. Joey kept warm out front of the store in his (sold out) Salomon Zero freeski jacket and the matching Salomon Intuition Insulated Pants. Several new customers resulted from Joeys efforts. Thanks Joey!
